An Emotional Week

So this week was a very emotional one. My dad and I had a fight on Tuesday evening. We usually don't fight like this since we can usually talk things out. But, this time we are both not budging to make a compromise. Then on Wednesday night, we get a phone call from my mom saying they were on their way to UCLA. A liver had been matched for my dad and they were on the way to go get it! (These things always seem to happen around a big fight). Anyways. Long story short, no liver. My dad was the back up in case the first person wasn't able to sustain the surgery or whatever. But, this is the closest my dad has been to getting a liver.

It is almost 4 years now since my dad had his episode and almost died. The doctors predicted the shunt in his liver to last for 5 years. We're hoping he will get his new liver around April. Lots of emotions, but mostly excited and scared.

Another depressing thought is that someone has to die in order for my dad to get his liver. My prayers go out to the families. I am thankful they decided to be organ donors. I am not, but this is making me rethink it.
